Rappy 700 is easily the most fun bike I've had in 40 years of trail riding, she's happy as a clam going nice and easy or warp speed. That's not a “race bike” you'll do great. Way more fun on trails than a utility. Maybe avoid the bottomless mud holes, but ruts, mud and hills are no problem.
That said, whats faster Raptor 700 or yfz450?
In an all-out drag race, the biggerbore Raptor 700 is faster. The quicker revving YFZ-R will get out of the hole quicker, but the massive torque and taller gearing of the 700 will slowly walk away from the race-ready 450. When it comes to climbing the biggest hills, the Raptor offers a similar advantage.

The acceleration in the yfz is mostly due to them being able to start a drag in second with good power, whereas the raptor's usually have to start in 1st. ~~PM me! my personal experience. My yfz beat my buddies' 660 in a drag everytime we raced. As far as top speed the 660 is faster.
If you want to trail ride a little, drag race a little, dune shred a little and MX a little, then yes the YFZ 450 is the thing to get. But if you want to trail ride 90% of the time, there are a dozen machines better suited to that purpose.
The Raptor 700R is Yamaha's second generation of the Raptor (first gen being the Raptor 660) and is powered by a 686cc single cylinder four-valve electronically fuel injected engine, with electric start and a five-speed manual transmission with a single-speed reverse.
The differences between the stan- dard Raptor 700R and the SE are that the SE gets a wave-style rear brake disc, dealer-installed GYTR front grab bar and heel guards. The SE also gets special graphics and colors.
ATVs are so loud because their engines rev at very high RPMs, they have shortened exhaust systems, have poorly insulated or non existent engine compartments, and are generally ridden very fast wherever they go.
Install an aftermarket muffler silencer Adding an aftermarket silencer muffler is a simple and effective way to get a noticeable quieter exhaust sound. ... One brand or model silencer may work well on some ATVs, but not so good on others.
