Most granite surfaces require polishing every five to 15 years, depending on the traffic or use they receive. Of course, polished granite must then be sealed to protect it from stains and other harmful issues, and that process is covered below.
Diamond polishing pads can be applied to granite polishing, marble polishing and concrete polishing. Wet resin bond diamond polishing pads are generally ideal for polishing granite and marble in stone shops. ... They are also used for wet polishing of concrete countertops.
The simple and fast way to do this is to use a wet diamond polishing disc (100 grit or 200 grit) attached to a regular random orbit sander. Simply spray some water on the concrete to get it wet, and “sand” the surface using the diamond disc to abrade away the burnished surface.
Diamond sandpaper really is the way to go! ... These pads are made with special uniform diamonds which do not overheat as easily wearing out the abrasive crystals. With use, these diamonds align and cause less pitting. As a result, they are less susceptible to clogging and quick wear.
Rinse with warm water. To put a shine on your granite put a little cooking oil on a soft cleaning cloth and wipe it across the countertop. Buff it gently. This makes the counter a little bit stain-resistant and gives it a glossy shine.
One cup alcohol and one cup water should do it. Spray the entire counter down with the water/alcohol mixture and wait five minutes (Image 1). After five minutes, wipe the moisture off the counters from back to front with a clean dish towel using a sweeping "S" motion (Image 2).
What Type of Wax Do You Use on Granite? For granite countertops, use only waxing products that are specifically designed for granite. Do not attempt to use car wax, as it will not properly complete the job. For lighter granite countertops, use a clear wax product.
